Well, as I sit here all ready for date night with Luke delayed at the hospital (I'm dressed and the boys with Grandma D), I figured I'd take the free time to update the blog! As expected, I am falling short on my desire to regularly update the blog...but, hey, that's just me.
Anyway, Elijah has turned the big 2 since our last update! We had a small cookout with the family, and that's about it, but it was a lot of fun. Jessica and her girls came up from Nashville, and we took the kids to the Children's Museum of Memphis for Elijah's bday. It was great fun, and we went ahead an got a membership for the year.
I attempted a "tie dye" cake for the celebrations, and I was actually quite impressed with the brightness of the colors! It was so vivid! Elijah didn't really care much about the cake, though, other than that it was "popelate"! I really tried to overdoes him on "popelate" for his bday thinking the cravings would wear off...nope, he's now a full on adict! Seriously, the kid asks for it at every meal, wants it in his milk, even mentions it in his prayers!! The other day I asked him if he could say, "I love daddy." He looked at me and said, "I love.......popelate!" Too funny!
And, speaking of Elijah, he is just cracking us up with his non-stop talking and singing these days. He loves the songs he is learning in Bible class, and we catch him singing them all the time. Even at night, we sit and stare at the video monitor as he sings himself to sleep in his crib. His favorites right now are Twinkle Twinkle, Who Did? Who Did? (..swallow Jonah), The Caterpillar Song, and Noah Noah Built an Ark (to the tune of Old McDonald). He also has short nicknames for all of his favorite books...Noah, Skin, Waddle Waddle, Boom Boom, Brown Bear, Red Barn...etc. He is even coming up with full on sentences that are totally random and quite funny at times. For example, while trying to discuss with him that it is not ok to hit Miles, Elijah says, "I like milk." Hard not to crack up in that moment! He is also reading into facial expressions and starting to understand emotions. He woke up one morning, and he asked where Luke was. With a frown on my face I told him daddy was at work. He just looked up and said, "sowwy" (sorry). Pretty cute.
Miles is still sleeping like a champ (hallelujah!) at night so we think by the end of the month we'll move him upstairs to his room (as opposed to the pack-n-play in Luke's closet...don't judge!). Fingers crossed that they'll both be upstairs and sleeping in their own rooms by March! Miles has really taken a liking to solid foods, and those chubby cheeks just grin when I get him in the high chair to eat! I haven't had too much luck with water in his sippy cup, but it'll come.
He is still not effectively rolling. I mean, the kid can do it, but he just doesn't want to. So, I plop him in the middle of the floor, seated, and he is entertained by Elijah. Miles does like the exersaucer, too, which helps him to burn a few extra calories! He is pretty chunky, and he is so big, in fact, that last week I had to bust out Elijah's old 12 month clothes...he isn't even 7 months old until NEXT weekend! He's just a big ole boy! Also, he doesn't have any teeth yet, but I promise any day we should see some! Chewing and drooling all the time!
Ok, enough with the updates! Now, for the pictures! Hope you guys are all doing well yourselves.
Well, the pictures are all in backwards order, but here's the final product!
