Oh, 2010, where did you go? It has been quite a while since we last updated (how do some of you do it so regularly??!!), and this is my only excuse…an over-active, energetic little man who decided to start walking the weekend before he turned 10 months old! Yes, he started walking around Thanksgiving and he hasn’t stopped since! We love it, though, and find such pleasure watching him explore. By explore we mean stairs, electrical outlets/plugs, hot oven doors (a whole other story), chasing the cats…you name it, he’s tried it!
For those of you who don’t know, we are officially moving to Memphis in July! Luke has accepted a position with a group there, and we are thrilled to be closer to family and old friends! That being said, we dread the thought of leaving our home here in Hershey. We, in fact, have a realtor coming to help us list the house next week, and her advice was to start “divorcing ourselves from this home.” Is that possible?! So many memories and life-changing events have occurred during our time here. It will not be easy.
We are still awaiting an adoption day to finalize everything with Elijah. It has almost been a year (the 28th is, in fact, his first birthday…what!), and we are eager to have this chapter behind us. The most recent update is that it will happen sometime in late February or early March. Again, I will mention that Elijah turns one in just a few weeks! Seriously! Even now, Luke will sometimes look at me and say, “Can you believe we are parents…that Elijah is OUR son!” It’s true, every day we sort of pinch ourselves to remind us that, yes, this is real life. It has been the most incredible year watching Elijah develop, grow, and learn. He is an incredible blessing, and we are constantly overwhelmed at God’s hand in the whole process. His plans and timing are perfect, aren’t they?
Ok, enough reflection! Many of you have likely seen pictures on Facebook so I won’t bore you with the same ole stuff. Today, we had our first real snow…though only a couple of inches. It took me longer to bundle Elijah up than the amount of time we actually spent playing, but it was well worth it! He was kind of like Ralphy in A Christmas Story…unable to move! We did have fun playing and returned to our nice, cozy home and a nap shortly thereafter.
