Fall, Friday Night Football, Flowers, Frisbee, & Fun!

Ah, this past week or so has been B-E-A-Utiful! The warm, breezy days and cool evenings have just gotten us in the mood for Fall (which just happens to include lots of F's!).

This past Friday evening we went to our very first HS football game here in Memphis (honestly, the last time we went to one may have been in 1998 when we were dating...yikes!).  It was a wonderful evening, and we were able to see one of our high school gals from church who was voted for the Freshman Homecoming Court! The boys really loved sitting near the band, bee-boppin' to every new tune. No pictures, sadly, but a fun evening!

The next day, Luke had a golf trip planned, but I wasn't gonna let it stop us from getting out and having fun! We had b'fast at Chic-fil-A (new bfast burritos..ahh-mazing!) and then we were off to Home Depot for some fall flowers!  I just couldn't wait any longer to get some new plants in the ground! While Miles napped, Elijah and I got to work on the front yard.

I tried desperately to get a shot of them both smiling AND looking...potentially impossible, but
this one is quite cute

...and then they were off!

Also, Saturday night we had a Ladies Night with women from church. It was so refreshing, encouraging,  and thought-provoking! Very thankful for those women as well as my pretty wonderful husband who took on the boys so I could have a night to myself!

We have really been enjoying afternoon/early evening walks if Luke makes it home in time.  Elijah has been obsessed with his bike, and, quite honestly, he's getting great at it! I think by next spring he'll be in a legit 2-wheeled bike, sans training wheels.

Nothing says "family time" like a walk around the neighborhood with "Hashbrown" (this is his self-proclaimed nickname that all the kids use and he is quite proud of....just don't want anyone to think I'm being mean!).  Ah, Hashbrown, you are sweet, but I have a confession to make: When you ring the doorbell 3 times in the middle of naptime I will not come to the door. The end.

This past Sunday evening we threw together a last-minute Ultimate Frisbee game!  Luke and I used to play Ultimate EVERY Friday night while he was in Med School.  Seriously, we would come home soaked, stinky, covered in grass/mud, and literally crawl up the steps to shower.  It was awesome!  Anyway, we thought about getting a game up with some of our friends here, and it was a total success!! We had about 30 folks show up (and a special shout-out to those who came and watched the kiddos...you know who you are!),  we then came to the house for pizza and s'mores!  I love providing home-cooked, nutritious meals for folks! ;-)  Anyway, we totally intend to make this a recurring Fourth Sunday Frisbee event, so if you didn't get the memo then we'll make sure you do next time!  It was loads of fun, and I have a nice, swollen, sprained ankle to prove it...nothing like a good battle wound!

The boys are finally getting over the "funky junk" but still have lingering runny noses and coughs.  Why does it take SO long to heal from upper respiratory ailments?  Here are several random pics from this past week and what we've been up to...

Seriously, these guys deserve a picture because they come with us EVERYWHERE!!
I should look into buying Cheerio stock.

Note to self, do not accidentally throw your vinyl tablecloth into the dryer.  It will look like someone died.  Lesson learned.

Yay for hand-me-downs!!  Elijah is sportin' new shirt, pants and boots from Milo!!  It's been so great to receive and give clothes to/from family & friends for the boys...why don't adults do this??
I miss my closet-shopping days!

Mmmmm, homemade basil pesto!

Totally stole this from you, Nicole!  Grind up old, broken chalk add water, and ta-da, sidewalk paint!

Brinner...it's what's for dinner! The boys love
cooking bacon and eggs with Luke, and I think it's precious!

Oh, Miles, I am learning many lessons from you, child!  Very thankful for these fun, light-hearted moments in the midst of a challenging toddler stage!

exploring a new playground in Germantown...and, yes, I know, Miles needs a haircut!

"I have a fever, and the only thing that will cure it is more....bike"

Ah, what a nice evening to blog. The boys are asleep, and Luke is working so I should totally be...emptying and reloading the dishwasher, cleaning up from dinner (and lunch), swapping out a load of laundry, packing, picking up toys, etc...but, I chose this instead...

Judge away, folks, judge away! I'm not scared! And, no, that's not your traditional s'more...substituted a Reese Cup for a Hershey Bar...get in my belly!!!!

Alright, off to get a few things checked off my to-do list before hitting the sack! Luke takes his oral boards next Thursday, so keep him in your prayers!

I'll leave you with some of my favorite Elijah-isms from the past week...

*Watched the whole scene develop: Miles walked up to Elijah and snatched a toy.  Elijah proceeded to push him to the ground.
Me: Elijah, did you just push Miles down?
Elijah: Umm....I push him up!
Me: unable to contain the laughter as his sincere, yet, clever response!

*Elijah must hear me call Luke "honey" quite a bit, and I know that I also use it for the boys a lot, too.  So, he has picked up on that term of endearment and put it to use...although he has his own way of saying it. I've tried correcting him to no avail.

"Horney, I need some more milk."
"Hurry up, Horney!"
"C'mon, Horney!"

*And, lastly, a bit gross (but, I find it hysterical and can't not record it)....
Since having all of this draining, he's been coughing up some yucky stuff.  After a quite severe coughing spell, he sat there chewing for a minute.  I couldn't help but ask what him what he was chewing on.  He kinda sat for a minute, and declared, "it's corn!"  Gag!
