Christmas 2012...Just a Smidge Behind!

Yes, this is uber late, and yes, this is a completely selfish post!  Simply a way to remember the holidays and wrap up our 2012 Family Album so I can print my FIRST digital blog-to-pages anual book! Woohoo! So, moving on to the pics!

The Petty Family (Luke's Mom's side) have a big gathering on the farm in Dickson the Saturday before Christmas every year.  We call it the Stocking Stuffer.  As far as I know, it started when Luke's generation of grandkids came along.  They were each given a potato sack with their name on it, and all the aunts, uncles and grandparents put Christmas goodies in them.  Now, all the kids 12 and under get a sack and the older ones swap names.  It's always lots of fun, with yummy eats!

Naomi and Aunt "Nanna"

14 kiddos (Miles refused the photo op) with their stockings full!

Apparently Miles got a bit warm...we found him sitting on the ice in the cooler.  True story.

Christmas Lunch at Jessica's on Sunday afternoon. Granma D and her grandkids!

Lily playing with one of her new toys!

Elijah LOVED his viewfinder from Granma & Papa D!! His favorite one (even now) is Bambi!

Back at Papa Coy's house in Springfield.  My mom's family always gathers on North Main St for Christmas and Christmas Eve is the big event!  My mom's father, PawPaw, still lives across the street, and her Sister and her family live next door.  I know I've said it before, but it's very Norman Rockwell-esque!
Papa Coy makes some mean fudge!!!

Here, Hilie is using her DOCTORATE skills on Erica...Hilary just graduated from PT school! Holla, Dr Blount!!

We did Christmas morning on Monday (actually Christmas Eve morning) since Erica had to leave early Christmas morning)

We got the boys these jumping balls, cardboard bricks, and a workbench to share! Loads of fun!

Elijah was probably MOST excited about his big boy underwear that he specifically asked Santa for.  Update: we have had zero potty success...but he still loves to admire all the undies! Funny Boy!

Luke surprised me with a new camera that is far more involved and awesome than I need.  However, I am having fun using it! I'm sure you'll notice in the coming posts that we're doing lots of photo experimenting!

Boy Talk with Uncle JD and Thomas

sleepy Thomas

Looking back, I hardly recognize this moppy headed fella!

Elijah fell asleep on the drive home to Memphis just like this

We got home, and it actually snowed a bit! Just enough to cover the ground and for the boys to run around in it!

Elijah got a doctor's kit from Laura, JD and Thomas, and he quickly put it to use on his beloved animals!

He also got some playdough...fun for all!

Miles was just a bit overwhelmed by all of the festivities...it took a few days to catch up on sleep!

Rein-cat?

I feel like I am leaving out TONS of pictures. I didn't include any from Christmas Eve dinner at PawPaw's, including the Dirty Santa swap that is always good for some laughs! We were so thankful to have a nice, long weekend to share with so many family members.  And, thankful to be so close to home to be able to participate in the festivities! On to 2013!

  2. Great pictures and stories. It sounds like everyone had a great Christmas. The blog to book project sounds really interesting too.
Happy Valentine's Day to the whole family.
